Chrystalee Vs. Mice

Chrystalee is one of the most precious meowies to ever put her paws on this earth.

I’m biased. Maybe. A little.

Poor Mice…Harley made quick work of them soon after. Daisy got a few too.

Chrystal had these all in a little pile to herself.

Adorable.

Almost as much as the actual real and alive mouse currently reeking havoc in the pantry. TSC was sold out of humane traps a couple of weeks ago, must remember to go back to purchase such item. Anyway, so that mouse isn’t even being noticed as he gnaws through rubbermaid bins full of cereal and bread and baking goods. Not a single raisin has been left untouched and therefore they have been composted.

Real Mouse – 1

Housecats – 0

Happy Valentines from Marten Pumpkinface

Public service announcement: Marten P. Kat reminds you to take a moment this Valentines and stop and sniff the roses.

Billboard Wisdom

I’m a sucker for retail therapy. I love the thrill of the chase, the moment where you find something so perfect for you. So magically made for you, that then, thanks to a little microchip in a little plastic card, this item becomes yours. And although my Visa strings are all tightened up and my closet is full…there is always something I will need. There is always a Tokidoki or Hello Kitty or Marc Jacobs item that I will troll Ebay for.

Always an item of technology that calls my name.

This is my ode to Materialism from someone who is often not materialistic.

(Also super cool billboard shot taken in NYC by yours truly.)

Marley Returns

Little known fact; Marley stayed in NYC to try to realize his dream of becoming an off Broadway acting monkey. I received the above picture today. He is planning to mail himself back to beautiful spring-like northern Ontario.

Marley is High

Not in that sense. High on life maybe. Or bananas.

This is Marley enjoying a latte at the Highline park in NYC.

Meowers brought us here. She is very in to design and architecture and read about this park. I would have never found it wandering on my own but am super glad I was able to experience it. We walked from start to finish, a moderately long journey but so worth it. It is stunning. Like literally just amazing green-space and so unique and comfortable and interesting, beautifully crafted from re-purposed materials. A marvel of design.

I just adore it!

Wouldn’t this be a lovely renovation for our dear Gardiner Expressway? (I know the logistics of detouring all that traffic straight to the downtown core would be hellish but really, this is why we have city planners. Get on it people!)

Marley Vs. NYC Subway

It’s Marley Monday! Still sharing the fruits of Marley hits the Big Apple.

Marley, Meowers and I really grabbed the bull by the horns and bought Metrocards for our NYC trip. Cheap and cheerful and seriously the best way to get around the city. For some pre-trip preparation I suggest you read this helpful article. It’s takes a little getting used to but thankfully Meowers has an excellent directional sense.  Also, New Yorkers are probably the most friendly and helpful people I have found in the world…we even ran in to a homeless guy helping people navigate.

Leftovers

The box the tree came in was sadly and unceremoniously defiled in several ways by the cats.

It was all a ploy.

Cause someone has a tree fetish.

It’s still up. Ortho Ukes Xmas was merely a week-ish past so…it’s not super weird it’s up still. I think.

Winston

This morning, in -10 degree weather, in the romantically falling snow, during my morning nicotine break, I made a new friend. He jumped on my foot and stole my heart all in one second.

I watched as he dug in the snow with both paws and nose for a little snack, looking no doubt for the rose hips all dried up under the shrubs in the snow. Because foraging in the winter isn’t easy for a little vision impaired dude I shared with him the crusts from my lunch sandwich. He was so enthused that he let me even pet him while he munched away.

Nature man, so frigging adorable.

Moon (Window) River

One of the things I wanted to see in NYC the most was the window decorations. The high end and large stores are always outdoing themselves with a team of incredibly skilled window dressers.

Window Dressing is totally an art, it combines mechandising, marketing and pure unbridled creativity given enough leash.

The dioramas in the Tiffany windows could be watched for hours. The detail is stunning.

Sparkles. Movement. Detail.

I would assume for such grandeur the holiday window teams would have to begin January 1st, brainstorming, building, assembling. At night, lighted and when the city is a little bit quieter, these are downright magical.

Won’t Sink Ships?

Finally! A smoothie to increase capacity for ‘good times’! And all this time I thought Kahlua was the key. I was so naive.
