Coyote Plays the Legion

I’ve never seen the legion in Stouffville so packed!

Last night was the Spring Fling, third annual actually. Many of the usual Legion suspects but it was also nice to see the other band groupies (wives/kids/girlfriends), the in-laws and friends. Not only was there a smoke machine but also a new backdrop and some pretty hardcore lighting…look at your gentlemen all professional. Kristy and Evan came by too, nice to see them and Kristy is also not drinking so yay for sober companions.

I think Evan said it best when he commented about how fun it was to watch young drunk people. We’ve all been there no? Drunk, self confidence through the roof, in public. Good. Times. Dinner and a show!

This couple was line dancing to tons of songs, so sweet.

My mom was kind enough to both provide a peptalk and iron my neon yellow top. I love this top but rarely wear it, time for it to be moved to heavy rotation.

I just didn’t feel like going out, total anti-social moments there, hence the pep talk. I always feel 150% better once I get out of the house but can easily stroll in to hermitville without a second thought. I’m going to write a post about my issues with something tomorrow to get it off my lovely (albeit expensive) chest.

Happy to report Coyote was on his best behavior, so my mini-intervention worked and I didn’t have to abandon him. I have learned I don’t have to stay at these functions until the bitter end. That being when the fights and severe drunkenness kicks in. So I left at about 12:30 and crawled in to bed with this handsome fellow.

I set up a page for the band, S-Town Ride just in case you too wanted to be a groupie.

I Admit

I may be a social faux pas considering the back story of these two but in all honesty, I have something to admit. This may be hard for some to come to terms with but I just need to get this out.

I prefer Kanye to Taylor Swift.

I know she writes her own songs and she’s a lovely, somewhat gangly and uber talented young scampy but Kanye really does it for me. Both fashionably and musically and ideal wise. I think Kanye is one of the greatest creative geniuses of our time. There I said it.

I watched this clip today and alike my swooning over B and I watching Bon Jovi and seeing a bunch of guys doing what they love and doing it well, it cemented I am so on team Kanye. I am not on team N-word though so save the comments. Gee, thanks.

The Power of Gratitude

As I have eluded to in several past posts I am currently reading and completing the 28 day The Magic course. It’s a book by the same author of The Secret and The Power, Rhonda Byrne. It’s mostly about the law of attraction but more importantly about love, joy and gratitude. The very first morning of the course you wake up and type or write a list of 10 things you are grateful for, and why you are grateful for such things.

There are no rules with this. It could be anything from the tiny most insignificant thing in your life that makes you smile to the biggest and all encompassing thing, like even being awake. There are people who didn’t wake up this morning, all over the world, of many ages, and each one of those had a family and friends. Sobering yes but true.

So I have been completing this assignment daily for about a week but thought I would share todays list. I felt like typing it and sharing it today but mostly I keep this quite personal.

1.) Sunshine. Today is summer-ish and yesterday I needed to go back to the house for a toque it was so chilly. But today, I wore a tshirt to clean the barn. Thank you sun for making everything so bright and beautiful out there in beautiful Northern Ontario.

2.) Not waking up at 6:30 and staying up until 1 a.m. last night to browse all sorts of marvellous inspiration on the interwebs. My body tells me what sleep I need and I get it. I don’t miss that rundown feeling where I was running on fumes from Wednesday to Friday. Thank you freedom!

3.) My late night inspiration! I have misplaced my darling Alien Penguin necklace and yesterday upon trying to find a replacement came across the blog of it’s creator, Emma Girard. Thank you Emma for all the inspiration from your beautiful projects you blog and share with us!

4.) Roger, Darren and Marilyn. Mom puts on the radio in the morning and we always listen to them. I adore these three, they always make me wake up laughing. Thank you morning team!

5.) My secret appointment at 3 p.m. today that I am very excited about for several reasons. I have spoken to Jennifer twice now and she seems lovely and to be surrounded by pretty things is but a dream of mine. I adore flowers and people and together what a lovely grouping. Thank you universe and Fran (awesome glasses lady) for the opportunity!!!

6.) Getting a break tonight from farm life and spending the night with Coyote. With seven horses, two dogs, three cats and 40 acres of property I have been going non-stop for a while with chores and it’s getting to me a bit. I love being out and meeting new people, seeing new things and bumping along the countryside but I am grateful Mother has a job where she can come in later and put out the horses and feed the animals before she leaves for work. I can’t be cooped up here chained to this place and it’s wonderful inhabitants constantly. So thank you universe for working it out that we can be farmers and women about town!

7.) Experimental smoothies, the liquid breakfast. Every morning I fill the blender with bananas, avacado, cinnamon, chia seeds, almond milk, almond butter, strawberries and whatever else I can get my paws on and happily sip my breakfast. Thank you Magic Bullet and Produce for making breakfast a little more wonderful.

8.) Hey thanks skin for finally clearing up and getting your act together. So happy and grateful this is working itself out because this affliction has made me very self conscious for the past few weeks. Thank you oil levels in epidermis for becoming somewhat more normal.

9.) Getting my shit together and writing out all my dreams today. It felt good and there are so many but I can capable of such things one at a time, getting them out of my delicious brain on to paper was a lovely task indeed. Thanks schedule for the time to do this.

10.) Time with brother this week. Although somewhat tumultous (screaming match of epic proportions) we smoothed things out and he stepped up and helped out a bit on the farm. We both have our faults but we both always laugh and at least I have one of out of three siblings who I can confirm has (sometimes) brain cells. Thank you Mom and Dad for deciding to have another.

I went in to great detail but you don’t need to…keep a little notebook handy and throughout the day start seeing the little happy things and jot those down! And then remember to say thanks for all the little things.

Spring Fling

Let’s have a fling okay? Just one night, on April 21st, Coyote will be there. Now you’re confused…

This Saturday at The Stouffville Legion Coyote and his band, S-Town Ride will be flinging all over the place. They go on stage at 8 p.m. and I even think the in-laws are shaking off the winter hibernation and coming out. You will not find a cheaper drink menu trust me on this one and tickets are only $10 at the door. If not for the company or entertainment please do yourself a favour and at least show up around midnight because that’s when the local Cougs get really rowdy. The best part about the fights is when they take out their flipper teeth and after the fight you realize their bangs (shaped like baseball mitts) are still in tact.

It’s a beautiful thing.

Important sidenote: If you happen to have any single girlfriends who like tall meek Gingers…Coyote’s brother is still  up for (literal) grabs ladies. It would be nice if you could date him and then get married and then have kids because then it frees Coyote and I from having any subtle hints about procreating thrown our way. Save us from the ‘wouldn’t it be nice to have grandkids to chase after’ talk won’t you?

1000 More Calories Than Required

Hi Bloggintons! All I can say is when it rains it pours.

Since I eluded to it earlier… last Wednesday was awesome. We literally left no day-date stone unturned.

After much haggling with the dogs and cats I managed to arrive at Coyote’s by lunchtime. There is nothing truly like a nooner is there? For someone who was gainfully employed full-time it’s one of my most favourite facets of not having a schedule. And by not having a schedule I am accomplishing so much joy everyday, case in point; nooner.

And this meal…

Oh Ikea! Why are you so great!?!?

Thanks to the above and then a quick pit stop at Booster Juice I managed to go over my daily limit of calories by about 1000. Yes, that many zeros. I showed that little pink princess cake who was boss…while loudly talking on the phone to my mother while Coyote looked on. A romantic? Why yes I am thankyouverymuch.

Yesterday we had a little talk about some things, relationship things. It was moderately unpleasant but I’ve no filter and he should have known that by now. I let him have my little intervention and stew about it and we’re getting back on track. Y’know adulthood and the ilk of such things. I have high hopes and was showered with apologies. I will admit sometimes I expect Coyote to read my mind when perhaps a better plan of action would to just let him have it on the spot. Not the good kind of let him have it either. The verbal emotionally damaging and brutally honest kind.

Hair Metal, Heavy Machinery

Are you sitting down? Cause it’s summer-ish outside, downright balmy darlings and the sun just poked through the clouds. Yay!

Weekend was a bit of a wash. I am beyond babysitting a severely inebriated 34 year old Coyote. I could have sworn we had this conversation as we stood in the emotional rubble from his birthday but I still somehow have my nanny and chauffeur hybrid uniform on. I was really looking to an evening out too, I was going to get all dressed up and enjoy my boyfriend time. After a super good day together on Wednesday of last week I was excited about us again. I didn’t feel that for a while and then just like magic it was back…then gone. But instead I just went home and wedged myself between Mother and her new friend, Bob, on the couch.

High five to the awkward Saturday.

Mom took me out yesterday to cheer me up and we had an awesome day. Having lunch, talking, feeling supported and buying lots of herbs and seeds and planters and getting all hyped up about being a farmer. I’m going to get on some heavy machinery today and build raised gardens. Nothing fixes my blahs like heavy machinery and pulling shit out of the woods with chains and wearing a Keswick Dinner jacket. I might listen to hair metal too.

I have a ton of other stuff to post…tonight!

Spectacle

I adore my new Jil Sanders. It’s the combination of designer and nerd that really had me from hello.

LOVE! I had to tilt my head this way, my poor chin is a series of unattractive bumps and lumps. Why am I going through puberty again at age 30?

I digress…

Go see Fran at Lenz and Trenz in Uxbridge, she is truly a spectacle connoisseur. They also have another location in the Beaches in case you can’t make the trek up but I suggest you do however biased I may be. Everything is budding and all those marvelous shades of green are magically emerging!

New huge nerd glasses, pink pixie dress and combat boots for tonights men’s league hockey banquet. For what its worth I don’t think Coyote even bats an eye at my out of the box fashion sense anymore.

Headquarters 2.0

I may have had to stop and have a three hour nap today. This Ikea shelving unit almost killed me, thank the universe I get to see the chiro tomorrow. And I get to pick up my new glasses too! Incorrect prescription no more!

Final tweaking is still required. As is my brother or Coyote coming by to hang the magnetic board and cork board and new picture that for now is atop my new high gloss gorgeousness….

My adorable Mother put Todd in there. Adorable, a Todd house.

Tomorrow is busy…chiro, house showing (fucky fuck fuck), new glasses pickup and then Coyote’s hockey banquet. Can’t wait for all the awkward conversation with other players wives/girlfriends. As soon as they start talking about kids I start talking about all my freedom. I’m happy for the breeders but Marty is enough of a handful for me sweet darlings.  I’m planning on wearing something whimsically and fashionably stupid so I indeed become a spectacle. In my new spectacles.

Look at that face! Win!

Just So You and You and You Know…

Unemployment advantage #45673820: Late morning on a Wednesday sex.

Now to continue the joy that is today…off to Ikea! Lunch and bookshelves here comes Mommy!

Thumper

Today my April #photoaday challenge was; Childhood Memory.

So let us pay tribute to Thumper, a kicky little rabbit gifted to me at aged 5. Thumper, all gray and full of adorableness was my pride and joy. I spent many hours chasing him around the laundry room with great joy. Thumper was a master lock picker and extremely intelligent for just a wittle bunnykins. So often he would jailbreak his cage and hop around the yard with great joy.

One day Thumper did not return.

My father, being especially sensitive towards my sensitivity with animals then spun a great (tail) tale, pardon the pun. Thumper had spoken to him shortly before he left. Dad has witnessed Thumper packing his worldly belongings in a handkerchief which he then tied to a stick and had told him to give me his best regards. He explained to my father that he wanted to meet a girl bunny to start a family. Thumper wanted to be a father himself, he wanted a 9-5 and a wife and kids.

I cried.

Dad felt terrible but continued to Who was I to hold back his life for my enjoyment only? He wanted to be free and to live his life. Go out in to this magical world and find love. It was selfish of me to want to squash Thumpers very life ambitions and goals. We all have goals, even bunnies. Everyone has a path in life, Me, You, Thumper. I became empowered about Thumpers venture from then on.

Until I was about 16 and was then told in actuality my Mom’s dog brutally murdered my bunny.

Mom you owe me a bunny. Seriously.

Childhood of lies!

(One day I will also tell you the story of my pony Alex who went for training and NEVER RETURNED.)
