” Look at me! Look at me! Look at me now! It’s fun to have fun but you have to know how! ” – Dr. Seuss, The Cat in the Hat

I needed to pick up some bingo dabbers before our Monday night and because I am both fun and only part-time employed I spent some time in the Dollar store Monday. For some reason the party/children’s aisle was packed and I was loitering in hopes they would all vacate for my photo shoot but then I just gave up and started snapping. I had no idea Dollarama had such a stellar collection of bother affordable and adorable head wear.

Surprisingly comfortable. I have begun, as possibly an ode to Daphne Blake,  using little vintage scarves from my grandmothers as tied neck apparel. It’s joyful, Monday as you will notice was polka dot day.

There was a canine version yet no feline. Surely if there was a feline version I would have certainly purchased said item so I could properly embarrass Boyfriend with as we stroll out in public.

My personal favourite. Always been a visor kind of girl and in hindsight I should have actually bought this. Not only does this tout function; obviously a winner for keeping that sun from beating upon one’s forehead but also goes with everything.

Everything! Black tie and casual totally covered!

Stinakat Love

I have a fondness for searching Youtube for unlikely acoustic song covers. There is something to be said for just a guitar or piano and a great voice. I think secretly I also adore this because the lyrics of some of these songs are hilarious and when set in an acoustic environment are far more entertaining without a beat.

So one day a little while ago I found Stinakat in my journey that is online Youtubery, great voice and interesting song choices always. I listen at least once a day, she keeps me company when I vaccuum and clean horse stalls so I thought I would share it with you too. Here is my favourite of hers…

Weekending

TGIF just doesn’t have the same ring to it when you’ve been home all week. But the weekend is nice to have nonetheless. Especially when it looks like this;

It helps when you have seven beautiful horses greet you with nays and brays as well.

Mikey dragged me everywhere to get at grass to graze on. It’s a thirty second walk to his paddock but because he’s 1200 pounds and I’m significantly less than that he won that battle. It was really a one sided conversation though, once I sat down in the grass and let him graze he didn’t really say much between mouthfuls.

Big afternoon planned…

Fascinator, wish bracelets, trying to keep glue out of Marty’s fur. I also need to catch up on my photo a day challenge. I have taken the pictures but they needs some editing and then posting. My little plants needs to be transplanted too in to their jiffy pots. I swear just after I posted the other day my entire tray of second seeds bloomed in to a bunch of wonderfulness. I adore growing things, I do possess some sort of nurturing qualities. It just only applies to plants and cats.

What are you doing today pumpkinfaces?

Secrets

Turns out my label reads:

Christina Curry is made of music, fashion, and apathy. With a dash of YouTube.

AND my big discovery of the day…Secret Starbucks Menu?!? Wait, WHAT?!? Yes! Such things exist and from what I have heard in the grapevine my beloved Starbys is coming to Uxbridge sooner than later. Now I can grab a vat of calories mere minutes away from new work. (I start next Tuesday, so excited.) I have no idea if the baristas know about such things but next time I am there I am going to try to order one of these puppies…

Caramel Coma

Coyote and I did a little Bed, Bath and Beyond on Sunday.

That man has lived without a proper laundry hamper long enough. There was much discussion about the true need of the newest acquisition but I won, the floor is no place for dirty laundry. The Knob Hill box just isn’t cutting it anymore sweetheart so man up and choose. We went to Markville Mall, they have an excellent Winners and Homesense there. Unfortunately none of the hampers there were acceptable.

After making the mall rounds we were starving so after more discussion (so tired of chain restaurants lately, bore bore bore) we went to The Pickle Barrel. Coyote went for the burger, fries and side Caesar and I went for the all day breakfast. I would have taken a picture of it but I inhaled that like it was my last supper. So much food and exactly what I felt like, the latkes are perfection as is the coleslaw. I could just order a heaping platter of those two and be a very satisfied girl.

And because we are gluttons for food punishment…

This is blatantly a want vs. need occasion. And possibly one of the best decisions of my life. I want to take this piece of Caramel crunch torte behind the middle school and get it pregnant. I don’t know if it was the whipped cheesecake-y ness of the layers or the gooey-ness of the caramel or the crunchiness of the crumbly almond crust but wow. Just. Incredible. I would have to rate this greatest piece of cake that I have eaten.

And as far as cake (and amongst other things are concerned) I’ve been around the block.

But what you should not do friends, is take half of this home and on an empty stomach at 10 p.m. eat the remainder of this cake, take two Tylenol for a migraine and drink a huge vat of iced tea because then not only is it difficult to sleep it’s very uncomfortable. Seemingly my choice of cake was my last and best decision of last Sunday.

And we got a hamper. At 9:30 thanks to Sprawlmart and we did not break up even though we had a big box store date.

Leaps and cake bounds kids!

That Stuff I Make

Sweeties, I am once again peddling my crafty jewels about town(s)…

You can now buy my jewellery at Moonflowers Magical Touch in beautiful downtown Stouffville. Charlene is amazing and has a store full of just the same. Crystals and gems as far as the eye can see not to mention the great book selection and workshops and classes she holds there with a variety of instructors.

So go get some crystals and jewels and let me know what kinds of jewels you want to see me make. I can do custom anything for anyone interested.

High Five!

Well Happy Wednesday to you my darling blog clickers! The sunshine is coming out, they are not calling for snow and I just accepted a part time (and probationary) position at a florist nice and close to home. I will be doing some design and other retail goodness and I am so excited. I met the team on Monday and they were all so welcoming and fun. Yes, that’s right your favourite blogger got herself a gig. Somewhat gainfully employed once again and lots of other good stuff on the burner.

And now to ramble gratitude…

Thank you Jennifer and Fran for this new opportunity…right up my alley. Part-time, creative and great team members.

Thank you sunshine for gracing us with your presence.

Thank you snow for calling in sick today and until December 2012. (Assumption. And a hopeful assumption at that.)

Thank you Internet for all your refreshing tutorials about floral design. I did my high school co-op at a florist and I was trying to jog my memory and the good people at Ehow were integral in my self inflicted refresher course.

I was a little grumpy upon awakening this morning but life served me up a dish of lovely today! Thanks Life!

Craftpurrnoon

Here kitty kitty kitty.

This is what I have penciled in for the meowies later this afternoon. Lucky them!

Counterculture Day (WEED)

Happy 4/20 everyone! Today is the day snack manufacturers anxiously await.

Marty’s delicious Uncle Victor sent this to me and I laughed so hard I cried.

I sincerely hope if you do partake in the joy that is weed that you do so today. In related news, there was a lot of Bob Marley and Cypruss Hill on the radio today and originally I had no idea why. Then The Edge played the full version of this and everything became clear…for a while anyway.

Did My Paws

So. True.

I have an absolutely useless left hand (just ask my former guitar teacher, Marty’s Uncle Mick) so as for cuticle cleanup I just pushed those puppies back and hoped for the best.

Two coats of Sephora Where’s My Purse, pretty and smooth light beige that doesn’t go on splotchy and one coat of Sally Hansen, 200 Strobe Light. Sparkles make the sunshine even better don’t you think?

Maybelline Express Finish in #621, Goody Plum Drop.  My go-to Easter-ish shade. So Spring-y!

As a rule I almost constantly have my toes painted. darlings with feet such as these (flipperish, you should see me swim) pretty toes in a shocking shade make them a little more polished for lack of a better term. Same with flats with bows, I adore these, totally a pair I should have stocked up on when I had the chance.

Speaking of bows and sparkles and fun nail times…

HOLY SHIT LOOK AT THIS!!!!  This is a beautiful world!
